Maidstone's fascinating Tyrwhitt-Drake Museum of Carriages is housed
in the medieval stables of the Archbishops' Palace in the centre of Kent's
County town.
Opened in 1946 this was the first museum of its
kind in England. It contains an outstanding collection of vehicles including
royal state carriages, horse drawn sledges and Queen Victoria's miniature
carriages.
