Formed in 1962, the Faversham Society was set up
to help preserve the character and history of the picturesque Kentish market
town of Faversham.
From small
beginnings the Society now operate a first class Visitor Information Centre
from the Fleur de Lis in Preston Street, they have responsibility for the
preservation of the historic Chart Gunpowder Mills, and they have recently
opened one of the finest local museums in the country with fascinating displays
ranging from photographs to complete historic room settings.
