Rochester is England's second oldest cathedral with over 1,400 years of worship, history and architecture.

It has glorious Norman architecture in the Nave and Crypt, and one of the finest Romanesque facades in the country. Among its many treasures is the magnificent 14th century Chapter Library door.

The first real fresco in an English cathedral for over 800 years was dedicated in 2004 and is on view in the north nave transept. The size and richness of this narrative painting by Sergei Fyodorov has drawn many visitors.

Brand new audio tours and an audio visual exhibition bring all this dramatically to life thanks to a substantial Grant from the Heritage Lottery fund in 2008

The Tea Room is open Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 4.30pm, and Sundays 10:00 until 4:00pm and the Welcome Desk and Shop are open 10 – 4 Monday to Saturday and 12- 4 on Sunday.

Wheelchair access to the Nave and Quire is good and work begins in 2011 to open up the Crypt for Wheelchairs and Buggies.

Opening Times: The Cathedral is normally open to visitors between 7.30am and 6.30pm. Admission is free but a suggested donation of £3 per would be welcome.

GROUPS must book in advance and the cost is £2 per person. Guided Tours are available at £4 per person. Discounted rates available on audio tours for groups booking in advance.
