Situated high up on the beautiful North Downs between Sittingbourne and Maidstone, the Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway is much more than just another railway. Our collection of historic narrow gauge steam locomotives has been built up over nearly 30 years and is the envy of many similar railways. The engines, which have been saved from as far away as Australia and Africa, have all been restored to an award winning high standard and are used on our picturesque woodland railway to pull trains of traditionally designed carriages. As well as the railway there are vintage vehicles - including a Rolls Royce, traction engines, a steam-roller, historic agricultural tractors, a museum where locomotives under restoration can be seen, an amazing model railway, a working beam engine, a street organ, and lots more. In fact we like to think there is something for everyone. Unlimited train trips, rides in our new tractor-trailer and all our other attractions are included in the admission price. For the hungry we have a tea room selling ice creams, light snacks and delicious homemade cakes, and there are extensive picnic areas throughout the site for those wishing to bring their own food. Our railway shop sells a range of souvenirs as well as toys and books. Toilets, including disabled access are available as are baby-changing facilities and a large car park. |
