Danson House is a gilded jewel in the green setting of Danson Park. Visitors will be enchanted by the superbly restored interiors of one of the finest Palladian villas in London. The house is the work of Robert Taylor and William Chambers, for John Boyd and his young wife Catherine Chapone. Danson was built as a house for entertaining to celebrate Boyd's marriage to his young wife, and the themes of love and enjoyment are played out through the gilded Dining Room with its unique wall paintings, the opulent salon and the library with its magnificent George England organ.

Ten years ago Danson House was 'the most significant building at risk in London'. Its rescue and restoration by English Heritage was a triumph and won the Georgian Group award. Since then Bexley Heritage Trust has welcomed visitors to explore the house assisted by our team of knowledgeable volunteer stewards who bring the history of the house to life. The building is surrounded by peaceful gardens, laid out in 2006; beyond the ha-ha lies the lake and Boyd's estate, now a public park, winner in 2007, 2008 and 2010 of the the award for best park in London
