Situated in the heart of the rolling Kent countryside, Great Comp is an exceptionally beautiful 7-acre garden surrounding an early 17th century manor. The skilful design of sweeping lawns, winding woodland paths and formal areas near the house entices the visitor to explore around the next corner.

Romantic ruins combine with luxuriant planting to great effect, allowing panoramic views of the garden while creating the perfect microclimate for the extensive range of exotic plants collected by the Curator over the past 17 years.

In Spring the garden erupts into bloom with numerous Magnolias, Azaleas and Rhododendrons, under-planted with large drifts of Hellebores and bulbs, whilst Summer brings warmth and extravagance from the rich and fiery colours of Salvias, Dahlias, Khiphofias, Crocosmias and Fuchsias; these are punctuated with ornamental grasses in great variety.

Also on offer at Great Comp are delicious homemade teas and lunches in the Old Dairy and an eclectic range of choice and unusual plants from the award-winning Dyson’s Nursery.
