Heavenly Mother's Day Treats in the Garden of England

Show Mum just how special she is with a wonderful day out at one of the many Kent attractions hosting exclusive Mother's Day events. Here are a few ideas.

Kent and Sussex Railway, Tenterden (18th March)

Enjoy the service and style of one of Britain's finest rural light railways combined with a Mother's Day Ploughmans lunch or Kentish cream tea. Sit back and relax on a gentle ten and a half mile train ride on a beautifully restored steam train and enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the village of Tenterden. There will be two services running especially for Mother's Day allowing you to enjoy lunch on the 1.15pm service or tea with homemade cakes at 3.30pm.Both journeys begin at Tenterden station and Mums will receive a surprise gift. 'A Royal Romance' at Hever Castle, Edenbridge (from 1st March)

A brand new exhibition commemorating the coronation of Anne Boleyn, one of the castle's most famous residents begins on 1st March as the country begins to prepare for its celebrations of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Visitors can admire a replica of Anne's coronation gown, described as a 'kirtle of crimson velvet decorated with ermine, and a robe of purple velvet also decorated with ermine, and a rich coronet with a cap of pearls and stones on her head' plus many more artefacts originating from the Tudor era. The colourful 16th century period is also brought to, life with an informative aned entertaining rendition of 'Court Whispers' the fascinating soundtrack of the story of Anne's turbulent relationship with King Henry VIII www.hevercastle.co.uk

Special Mother's Day Guided Tour of Biddenden Vineyards (18th March)

Come along for a free tour of Kent's award winning Biddenden Vineyards. Situated 1.2 miles from the Wealden village of Biddenden. The 22 acre vineyard invites visitors to see the different varieties of grapes, presses and bottling line in the winery, plus tastings of the mouth watering wines, ciders and apple juice afterwards in the shop. Treat yourself and a loved one to the delicious local food and drink produce available in the shop including chutneys, jams, cakes and Kent Crisps. www.biddendenvineyards.com
