Treat him to a lunch or afternoon tea with a twist at his favourite attraction, a tour and tastings of Kent’s famous beer and wine producers, or just sit and relax with an indulgent meal in the heart of Kent’s countryside.
Best of British Garden Festival at Hever Castle and Gardens, Edenbridge (15-20 June)
Beautiful flower displays will fill the Castle rooms with vibrant colour and a sweet fragrance as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The displays will be expertly created by NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) and the patriotic theme continues in the gardens where red, white and blue plant collections will illuminate the glorious castle gardens. On 24 June, classic car lovers are invited to visit the castle to view and talk to the owners of the 150 Aston Martin cars that will be on display.
Father’s Day Tours with lunch or tea at Shepherd Neame, Britain’s Oldest Brewer in Faversham (17 June)
A truly unique present for Dad! Enjoy a tour of Shepherd Neame’s award winning brewery, followed by a tutored tasting and a pint or two over a traditional Sunday lunch or a lavish homemade Brewer’s Tea. Due to high popularity, tickets must be booked online in advance and are £27.50 for adults, £26.50 for children and £25 for senior citizens.
The Shepherd Neame Visitor Centre won a hat-trick of awards in 2011 and this year the Faversham brewery has much more to offer, including the exciting arrival of its new sister venue, The Old Brewery Store.
A day out at the Kent & East Sussex Railway, Tenterden (17 June)
For just £22 for the whole day, you can spoil Dad to a journey on one of Kent & East Sussex Railway’s charming vintage steam trains, considered to be one of the country’s finest examples of a rural light railway. Whilst passing through the 10½ mile stretch between the beautiful villages of Tenterden and Bodiam, your party will be treated to a delicious homemade Ploughman’s lunch or cream tea on a private table with a complimentary bottle of the railway’s ‘Dad’s Delight’ beer. Dad can also take home a caricature of himself at the end of the day! The tour departs at 3.30pm and pre booking is essential.
Biddenden Vineyards’ FREE Father’s Day Tour (17 June)
Kent’s oldest commercial vineyard is inviting you to sample its award winning wines, ciders and apple juice for free on Father’s Day. Arrive at the vineyard at 9.45am for a free cup of coffee, followed by a tour at 10:00am to learn the fascinating history of Biddenden Vineyards. Quex Craft Fayre at Quex Park, Birchington (17 June)
Visit the Craft Village and enjoy the huge array of unique, handmade crafts and gifts on sale. There will be craft stands for Quex Park’s very own craft workers as well as visiting ones. Barbeque food and other delicious food and drink snacks will be available and funds raised will go to Kent Air Ambulance.
