Set in 500 acres of beautiful parkland, Leeds Castle is the perfect backdrop to your day out. The historic castle, glorious gardens, attractions and a programme of events awaits every visitor. Open all year, 2012 brings a new exhibition of ‘What the Butler Saw’, a celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee and a brand new ‘Christmas Past’ experience – a year full of fun, colour, nostalgia and pageantry. During your visit explore the gardens and grounds, children can let off steam in one of our playgrounds, get lost in the maze, watch a falconry display or take a ride on Elsie the Castle Land Train or the Black Swan Ferry Boat. Enjoy lunch in the Fairfax Restaurant or visit one of our shops, to browse a wide range of unusual gifts for the whole family and purchase a souvenir from your day. During its 900 year history, Leeds Castle has been a Norman stronghold, the private property of six of England’s medieval Queens and a palace used by Henry VIII. In the 1930s the castle was a playground for the rich and famous, as Lady Baillie, the last private owner, entertained high society down from London for the weekends. Today the interior offers visitors a glimpse of its rich past with a fine collection of art, porcelain and furniture. “Key to the Castle” tickets are valid for one year, so you can visit the castle and grounds as many times as you like.
