Mount Ephraim Gardens offer something for everyone. Unwind in ten acres of enchanting Edwardian gardens and escape the humdrum of everyday life.

10 acres of Edwardian gardens at Mount Ephraim are set against a breathtaking backdrop of sloping orchards and pasture to magnificent views of the Swale and Thames estuaries. Explore the Japanese style rock garden, water garden and arboretum, as well as rose bed terraces leading to a small lake.

Elaborate and unusual topiary capture the imagination within a walled enclosure, which boasts a long herbaceous border. The Millennium Rose Garden is densely planted and intoxicates the senses in mid summer. For something completely unique, there is the 'Miz-Maze' creation, planted with ornamental grasses and wildflowers and best seen Aug/Sept.

The gardens, established over a century ago, are set at the heart of an 800 acre estate and have offered visitors a tranquil escape since they were first opened to the public by Sandys and Lesley Dawes in the 1980's. The country estate comprises the house, the splendid gardens, a progressive fruit farm, ancient woodland and grazing pasture.

Mount Ephraim has been home to the Dawes family for over 300 years. In 1870 the splendid late Victorian mansion - enjoyed today by couples choosing Mount Ephraim for their wedding - was built on the site of the original house built in 1695. The house and gardens are a lasting monument to a more graceful and leisurely age and offer a picturesque setting for every occasion- from relaxing picnics and garden visits to weddings and country house events.

Whatever the weather, the Woodrose Tearoom will help make your visit to Mount Ephraim Gardens a memorable one - offering light lunches, cream teas and a delicious range of home-made cakes; sourcing local produce wherever possible. Served during gardening opening times. Bookings welcome. Contact: Dianne Haworth Tel: 01227 751 168 (Tearoom only).
